Hi everybody. It’s Christina Daves with this week’s Get Famous Friday PR Tip. This week, I want to talk about reusing old stories. So maybe you saw a story in a magazine or newspaper, on television. You thought, “I would have been the perfect expert for that.” I want you to save that story and I want you to re-pitch something very similar either to that media outlet or to, you know, another one of their competitors in 6 to 12 months.
What I have found is that media outlets will reuse similar type stories. My favorite example is one from The Today Show. When I saw, it was around the holidays and they brought a nutritionist in and the whole story was about what is the healthiest Mall food to eat when your holiday shopping. I thought “Oh, that’s so great. I want to share that with my audience.” So when I Googled it and tried to find it, I found a similar story that Meredith Vieira had done and this was years after she left the Today Show when it was a summertime story, when it was just you know, what is the healthiest Mall food? So see what spin you can put on an existing story and re-pitch that story a little bit later. So that is this week’s PR Tip.
