Hi everybody. It’s Christina Daves with this week’s Get Famous Friday PR Tip. This week I want to talk to you because I hear this all the time – people think, because they’re new in an industry, they can’t get publicity and that is so far from the truth. Remember media is 24/7/365. They need constant stories. It doesn’t matter if you’re new in your industry.
I work with a lot of real estate agents. A lot of real estate agents are transitioning from another career. So what I always tell them to do is, what can you bring from your past career to your new, to your new real estate business and those are the kinds of things you can pitch. For example, I have a new agent who was a CPA in his past life, for 25 years. And I said, “Oh my gosh, can you give me you know five tax loopholes for the first time homebuyer?” He said, “Yeah, that’s easy.” So that’s the kind of stuff. You know, that’s valuable to somebody. Maybe it doesn’t matter so much that you’re a new real estate agent, you know, but you’re bringing in that CPA stuff. I have a lot of government contractors who switch over to that field. And again, they know contracts that’s what they’ve done. You know, they’ve just read contracts for 20 years. So just because you’re new, I always say use the words “newly affiliated,” with your company and use your expertise from your past. Even stay-at-home moms, you volunteered, maybe you ran the swim team; maybe you ran the Booster Club at school. These are jobs. They really are. They might not be, you didn’t get paid what you were worth, you volunteered, but you bring an expertise with you from what you did before. So yes, and I’ve worked with tons of people who have been brand new in an industry and gotten even National publicity.
So don’t be afraid because you’re new. And especially if you’re new, please join the PR Challenge at YourPRChallenge.com where I take you through a 10-day process. It’s about 10 minutes a day on how you get massive visibility for your business. There’s no cost to join. Like I said, it’s only 10 days. And if you do the work, you’ll see the results. So I can’t wait to see you in the Challenge. I can’t wait to see you in our private Facebook group, and I can’t wait to see you in the media.
