Hey hey everyone, it’s Christina Daves with another Get Famous Friday PR Tip. Today, I want to give you an idea on how to make yourself newsworthy and give you a really good pitch idea for the local media. Take a national trend or a national study and bring it home.
What’s going on nationally that you can bring home to talk about what it’s doing to affect your regional or local market? Or, how might your market be different?
I live in the D.C. area and I know a lot of times we’re an anomaly for these studies because we have a lot of transient people. People are coming and going – a lot of times people are here for two years, four years and then they’re moving, so look at that. All industries have trends and studies that come out. Read your trade magazine, and set Google alerts for it. Obviously, you know who’s important in your industry – see what they’re talking about.
But like I said, take that trend, take that study, bring it home, and use that to pitch the media. Be that expert in your industry by taking national information and applying it to your local market.
I would love to do more with you, and invite you to join the free PR Challenge at www.yourPRchallenge.com. It’s a 10 day challenge of 10 minutes a day, and I promise it will transform your business if you do the work. The people who are doing the work – we’ve had people in the Wall Street Journal, and we have somebody in the challenge who actually got a regular segment on a morning television program. So it’s super exciting with lots and lots of success stories. We have an awesome Facebook group you can come in to. So, I hope to see you there!
